Private nursing homes in Prince Edward Island provide 24-hour care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Admission to long-term nursing care facilities is determined by committees made up of representatives from hospitals and Home Care, Housing, and Long-term Care programs. Nursing homes are licensed by the Community Care Facilities and Nursing Homes Board.
Community Care Facilities must be similarly licensed. These facilities provide services such as meals, housekeeping, meals, and personal hygiene, but 24-hour nursing is not available.
