Besides being one of the largest senior living providers in the country (they operate hundreds of assisted living, independent living and retirement communities throughout the US and Canada), Holiday Retirement employs live-in managers, a unique feature that few senior living communities share.
In many cases, a husband and wife serve as the community’s managers. They’re on call to welcome new residents and introduce them to others, they organize and participate in activities, they’re are available for questions from visitors, prospective residents, family members, and current residents. Monitoring the Emergency Call Systems around the clock is another important function of their job. Essentially, they’re part of the family.
A previous post How Accessible Is the Management in Assisted Living? speaks to the importance of a capable manager/management team in senior living. The Holiday Retirement approach demonstrates their understanding of the manager’s vital role.
While there are many benefits to appointing live-in managers, there are plenty of senior living communities that provide quality care without a live-in manager.
