Leisure Care, a provider of resort-style retirement communities in several states and parts of Canada, has taken a unique approach to managing the company’s social media account. Currently, they are sponsoring a “resident take over” of Twitter. Residents who are interested in participating are taking turns manning the account; their tweets are primarily focused on retirement living at the Leisure Care community they call home.
Who better to tweet about retirement living than the residents themselves?
Doug Hege is the currently active “account manager.” Hege resides at Fairwinds Ivey Ranch in California, and he describes himself as “in his 90s” and someone who enjoys technology, photography, science, engineering and inventing. Check out his recent tweets:
Not only is this a great way to market Leisure Care‘s communities, but it also gives residents the opportunity to be purposefully engaged in the place they call home — and proves anyone who believes that seniors cannot use new technology totally wrong.
Kudos to Leisure Care for implementing this innovative idea!
