A Taste of the Future: The Next Generation Dining Menu. Turning Around Caregiver Turnover. Honoring the Life of a Resident Following His or Her Death. These are three out of 13 new categories that the Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA) has added to their Best of the Best awards, via this announcement.
It’s not just assisted living communities that may be nominated. According to ALFA, their provider and allied members can submit nominations for “new products, services or programs making significant contributions to advance excellence in senior living, including assisted living, independent living and Alzheimer’s care.”
Besides those mentioned above, categories for awards cover topics like reducing injury among staff and residents, furnishing staff with mobile technology, supporting residents’ families during times of transition, and “preparing for more residents with greater care needs.” (Get the full list of categories here.) Certainly these topics align well with current and future issues and reflect the key priorities that should be the foundation of all senior living communities, whether they are nominated for an award or not.
