A retirement community may be the ideal destination for your golden years, but if you can’t sell your home, you’re stuck.
Many boomers and seniors find themselves in this predicament on account of the housing market slump and changes in the economy. The rising costs of senior living don’t help either.
However, since senior housing providers want to stay in business despite these challenging circumstances, many are now offering “transition services.” Essentially, the community will assist prospective residents with the sale of their home to speed up the transition process. Our article, Senior Living Companies Selling Homes? covered this new aspect of the industry in greater detail. Read it here.
Willow Valley Retirement Communities in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, wrote about their transition services in their latest issue of Willow magazine (their own publication). According to the article, Willow Valley will send a “professionally certified Stager” to come in and talk about downsizing, the staging process (creating an attractive, clutter-free, home-like atmosphere that will be appealing to buyers), real estate listings and referrals, and coordinating the details of the move, to name a few.
