If the only way you can distinguish a photo of your mother as a teenager from your own senior class portrait is that it’s in black-and-white or sepia-toned, you may be a winner. Emeritus Senior Living, one of the nation’s largest assisted living providers with communities across the country, is sponsoring a Mother’s Day Look-Alike Photo Contest.
The rules are simple: upload and post your mirror image photos on the Emeritus Facebook page. Then, get your friends and fans to participate, because the photos with the most votes will determine the outcome. Two grand prize winners will receive $100 Visa gift cards, and two second place winners will receive $50 Visa gift cards. (Why not treat Mom to a lovely dinner out if you win?) Find all the details here.
This Mother’s Day may be your Mom’s first in assisted living. Check the community calendar for special events that families are invited to participate in, such as a Sunday brunch or mother-daughter tea. If your mother is able to leave the facility, schedule a family gathering at your home or a meal at her favorite restaurant to celebrate and honor her. If travel is difficult but your family wants to do something special and intimate, look into reserving the community’s private dining room, or use one of the common rooms and host your own party there.
