Ever wondered how much assisted living costs in Minnesota? In California? In your home state?
Check out this useful Cost of Care Tool from Genworth Financial. Click on the interactive map of the United States to find out the average costs of home care (that of homemaker/companionship providers or medical/home health aides), adult day health care, a private one-bedroom apartment in assisted living, and a semi-private or private room in a nursing home. You can break down the cost on an annual, monthly or daily basis, compare costs by location and even calculate future costs. A full report is available here, and if you want this data on-the-go, download it as an app via iTunes.
Here are a few highlights:
- The national median hourly rate for medical home care services is $18; non-medical averages at $19 an hour.
- Nationally, the daily rate for adult day care is $61; nursing homes average $200 a day for a semi-private room and $222 for a private room.
- The median monthly rate for assisted living nationwide comes in at $3,300.
These costs will undoubtedly continue to rise, heightening the importance of planning ahead and considering all options. Get started with our Elder Care Planning Resource Guide.
