Check out this useful Cost of Care Tool from Genworth Financial. Click on the interactive map of the United States to find out the average costs of home care (that of homemaker/companionship providers or medical/home health aides), adult day health care, a private one-bedroom apartment in assisted living, and a semi-private or private room in a nursing home. A full report is available here, and if you want this data on-the-go, download it as an app via iTunes.

Here are a few highlights:

  • The national median hourly rate for medical home care services is $18; non-medical averages at $19 an hour.
