You may not always remember your first date, but you probably remember your worst date, right?
Emeritus Senior Living wants to “celebrate Valentine’s Day with a little more humor and a little less cliché,” so they’re currently running this unique contest: “Grandma’s Worst Date Ever.”
Though Grandma is in the name, Emeritus welcomes stories from people of all ages. However, since a worst date tale is probably peppered with mishaps and misunderstandings rather than romance and roses, Emeritus Senior Living asks that stories are also suitable for people of all ages to read and share (no bad language; keep it family-friendly).
From now until February 13th, you can submit your family member’s funniest worst date story; written or video-taped entries (less than 350 words or 3 minutes in length, respectively) can be uploaded to the Emeritus Facebook page, posted to YouTube, or emailed to Contest@Emeritus.com. On Valentine’s Day, the winners will be announced on the Emeritus Senior Living Facebook page; prizes are gift cards ranging from $25 to $150 denominations.
People are often hesitant to visit or call a senior family member in assisted living because they don’t know what to talk about. Whether you enter the contest or not, why not enjoy a laugh reminiscing about your worst dates ever? Finding common ground and seeing the humor in life often make the best conversation prompts.
