Emeritus Senior Living Releases Video Library to Help Caregivers

By Michelle Seitzer / Posted on 06 September 2011

Caregivers of older adults (and as per data from AARP, there are 40 million of them) often find themselves in awkward, overwhelming, and complicated situations throughout the duration of their experience. As the country’s largest assisted living provider, Emeritus Senior Living knows this well.

So they’ve launched a how-to video series (21 total, divided into four major subject areas) featuring expert commentary from their staff members on what they have found to be the most common concerns expressed by caregivers. Caring for an individual afflicted by Alzheimer’s or dementia, understanding what senior care options are available, finding the means of financing these care options, and starting a conversation with a senior friend/family member about transitioning to senior living comprise the four topic areas; within each of these categories, viewers can choose from several videos that break down the topic into further detail (for example: tips for bathing someone who has dementia, defining independent living, using a life insurance policy to pay for long-term care, and easing the fear about moving to a senior care community).

Says Jayne Sallerson, executive vice president at Emeritus, “Our goal at Emeritus is to ensure that seniors are living ‘Safely Somewhere’, whether they are being cared for at an Emeritus community, another senior living environment, or at home with a loved one.”
