I would LOVE to get a ticket to this event. On Thursday, September 23rd, Chambrel Roswell, a Brookdale Senior Living community in Georgia, will sponsor an Ultimate Chef competition, pitting dining services staff from area communities against one another in a 2-hour event open to the public.
A panel of judges includes celebrity Leeza Gibbons (whose book on caregiving, “Take Your Oxygen First” is a top seller), Brookdale Senior Living’s Dr. Kevin O’Neil, former Atlanta Falcons member Dewey McClain, and perhaps the most important judge of all: Chambrel Roswell resident, Colleen Sander.
With a focus on healthy cooking for seniors, the competition charges two teams comprised of four staff members each with the task of preparing four courses… using a grill only.
This totally interactive event gives audience members the opportunity to ask questions, participate in nutrition/wellness seminars, and stroll through a vendor expo.
The last of six stops on this nationwide tour lands in Jacksonville, Florida, on November 18. Click here to register, or for more information.
Kudos to Brookdale for a fabulous idea that encourages healthy eating and community engagement – I look forward to seeing more creative events like these in senior living.
