Even though I was born in 1964, the last year of the infamous Baby Boomers, I’ve never really considered myself a Boomer and I don’t feel an affinity to that era. I was however, delighted to discover where I belong, though: I am Generation Jones:

If you were born between 1954 and 1965, ask yourself this question: “Do I feel like a member of The Baby Boom Generation, Generation X, or neither?” Ask other people of this age which of the two generations they feel a part of. You will quickly find that the vast majority of people in this age group do not feel like Boomers or Xers.

Generation Jones is politically influential and have been pivotal to several recent elections, representing nearly one-third of voters in the United States. In fact, Both President Barack Obama and First Lady, Michelle Obama, are Jonesers themselves.

Of course, such labels aren’t vital to anyone’s well-being, but I’m glad to identify people shaped by the same experiences I was and who are now facing the same things I am, namely aging parents. Boomers are closer to retirement and I have a six year old, so we’re at different places in life.
